First organized Apr. 29, 1812 as Forks of the Gunpowder Church, a member of North Bend Association. In 1840 joined Salem Association of Predestinarian Baptist Churches. By August 22, 1902, the original congregation was disbanded. Another congregation was formed at that time, as the Gunpowder Baptist Church.
